Historic Plymouth Site Map

Historic Plymouth Site Map

“Sense of place is the sixth sense, an internal compass and map made by memory and spatial perception together.”

-Rebecca Solnit, Savage Dreams: A Journey into the Landscape Wars of the American West

The Plymouth Historical Society is finding new ways to engage community members with our city’s history through these times of socially distanced activities. One new undertaking is the creation of a map of historic sites within the City that can be explored from home or in situ via your phone as you explore the City by car or foot.

Historic Sites of Plymouth Map. Created by Reba Luiken for the Plymouth Historical Society.

Reba Luiken created the above interactive map as part of a Geocaching project for her Girl Scout Gold Award in 2012. The map is currently active and can be explored HERE.

With this amazing past work done by Reba in concert with Gary Schiebe, we will be expanding our explorations of these sites. Our focus will be to give users a sense of the historic layers and stories of different sites around the city, with the goal to add in photos and other media. Stay tuned for project updates as we explore and learn more about these amazing places that speak to the history of Plymouth!
