Discover the Past, Celebrate the Future

The Plymouth History Center operates out of Old Town Hall, located at 3605 Fernbrook Lane N. – a museum, research center and oral history space created to capture the vibrant past of Plymouth, Minnesota. It is free and open to the public 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the first Saturday of every month.

Discover Plymouth’s history the earliest records up to the present day. No appointment necessary.

Research Center

The Research Center at Plymouth’s Old Town Hall has primary and secondary resources about local history. Research buildings, people and events related to Plymouth. Examples of research materials include letters; histories of local organizations and families; maps; municipal records; newspapers; yearbooks and more.

Appointments are not necessary but are encouraged so staff can pull materials in advance. Old Town Hall staff are happy to discuss your research requests and make recommendations. Contact Historical Site Coordinator Ryan Barland at rbarland@plymouthmn.gov or 763-509-5229 to get started.

Scanners are available. Participants are encouraged to bring a flash drive to store scanned images and materials.

Oral History Recording Space

Everyone has a story – or two. Oral History is the audio recording of what people feel is the most important memories from their life.

A typical Oral History session takes 1-2 hours to record.

Participants will never be asked to share anything they are not comfortable with. Bringing special items or photographs is encouraged, but not required. All participants will be required to sign an oral history release form.
