2019 Collections Inventory
In December 2018, the Plymouth Historical Society was awarded a Minnesota Legacy Grant for $9960 to conduct a partial inventory of our artifacts and archives. Our plan is to identify, catalog, and photograph the 1600-plus objects currently housed in the Plymouth History Museum building.
We began the project by collecting basic object information and a photograph for each object we examined. This information was entered into a new collections software management system, Collective Access.
Since January 15, 2019, we have created new object records for 177 objects over a total of 33 hours. This means we have processed approximately 5.5 objects per hour.
The most common types of objects in our collection so far are black-and-white photographs (29), scorecards (5), hats (5), toy vehicles (5), pairs of gloves (4), straight razors (3), playing cards (3), medicine bottles (3), and sheet music (3).
We will make periodic updates as we progress through the collection and will highlight a few standout objects each month.
